Quilts

I have been sleeping with a lot of reading material............

One of the great joys of my life is reading.  Who would have thought that learning to read would bring such joy?  When I hear people say they don't like to read I think,  "How sad."  They are missing out on a world that is really just within their grasp.
Any way.............................I read every night and this material has a permanant place in my bed.  When I make the bed, they get piled up on the side of the bed I don't use  (Marvin's side) so they are within reach.  What am I reading now?  My Bible is there as well as my teacher's edition of my Sunday School book.  I teach the class and usually start studying my lesson early in the week .  I also have a "Bible Time Line"  pamphlet that gives me a time reference.  I decided to read the prophets in chronological order.  I have read Jonah and now am reading Amos.  I picked up a commentary on Amos and Obadiah this weekend, so I am reading that simultaniously.  I have a book,  "Diary of A Confederate Nurse"  that I have slowly been making my way through.  At present I have Tonya Ricucci's  "Word Play Quilts" along with my latest edition of "American Quilter".
I usually try to have a reading "theme" every winter and read extensively on a particular subject.  I have read about ancient Egypt, Polar Exploration, Volcanos and Earthquakes, the Holocaust, Lewis and Clark's Corp of Discovery,  American Indians, etc.  We have the best library in Columbia and I am frequently there.  I tend to prefer reading nonfiction, but occasionally bring home a novel.
If you're not reading, perhaps you would like to give it a go.  It is a wonderful habit to get into.
The only drawback is being awakened when one of the book falls on the floor in the middle of the night.  What are you reading?

  1. Marilyn, when I used to clean Mamie and Jason's house I would go upstairs to clean Shea's room and her bed looks just like your bed as you described. She has all kinds of books on one side of the bed, I wonder if she got that from you.
