I love hanging out my laundry.

It gets me outside to enjoy the fresh air.  I like the sound of the laundry snapping in the wind, the feel of the sun on my face, the smell of the laundry soap.  It's a very sensuous activity.

I really love the fresh smell of the fabric when I bring the laundry into the house....................and going to sleep on freshly laundered sheets with the smell of the sun and the wind....it is intoxicating.  I really love to hang my laundry outside, but I don't want anyone helping me...................because I have to do it my way.   How OCD am I.............................?

First I hang things that are square or rectangle...............and always from left to right.  This includes tea towels, dish cloths, bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths.  They are the easiest to hang because of their simple shape-----single layer, four straight sides.

Next I hang my tops----------------everything must be right-side-out and draped over the line with the front toward me.  This is usually tee shirts and PJ   tops.

Next I hang my bottoms:  shorts, PJ bottoms.  All snaps must be snapped.  All zippers zipped.  All buttons buttoned.  They must be hung with fronts facing me when I hang them.  When I move to the back clothesline, I hang from right to left.

Then I hang my socks.......right side out................hung with the matching sock.................by the toes.

And finally my underwear...............................just to embarrass my grandchildren, children, and employees.  They ARE NOT granny panties!  Please don't offer to help me hang out my laundry.......................it is way too traumatic for me.

  3. Love this post, Jimmy and I argue all the time about how to hang laundry! Socks go a certain place, Jeans go on the opposite end and I hang his bibs one way and he likes them hung another. Shirts have to be hung a certain way as well. Drives me crazy when they do it wrong. So glad to see there are others out there, maybe we need to start a support group.
